After the final whistle and a controversial Lazio winner scored by Ciro Immobile, the Fiorentina players continued to argue with the referee and his assistants.
Ribery was caught on camera shoving the linesman twice as they walked off the pitch, as there is a slightly longer version aired on Sky Sport Italia.
He pushed the official twice before he was pulled away by a Fiorentina member of staff.
It is confirmed by the Lega Serie A that Ribery was shown the red card after the final whistle. This means a ban is practically inevitable and it could be for several games.
The Lega Serie A or FIGC are clamping down hard on any physical contact with referees.
There have been several very serious incidents in the amateur leagues, which saw some referees beaten and put in hospital by angry players or club staff.
