Inter forward Alexis Sanchez has suffered a potentially serious ankle ligament injury while on international duty with Chile.

The player, on loan from Manchester United, limped off after a knock to the left ankle during last night’s 0-0 draw with Colombia.

A statement from the Chilean Federation today confirms tests showed a “dislocation of the tendons” in his ankle.

More tests will be needed and he has been sent back to Milan for treatment with the Inter medical staff.
