Roberto Soriano joked he got the Bologna winner against SPAL the one time he “wasn’t looking” at the goal and dedicated it to Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The Rossoblu dominated the game at the Stadio Dall’Ara this evening, denied by saves, two goal-line clearances and Soriano’s own finishing.

However, deep into stoppages, Soriano got his head to a Riccardo Orsolini cross – and collided with Thiago Cionek – for the winner.

“I scored the goal when I wasn’t looking! That’s why I got a whack to the head! On the other chances, I was looking at the goal and couldn’t get it on target,” Soriano told Sky Sport Italia.

“If I get a goal every time I get a whack to the head, I will take that trade!”

This was also the first home match with Coach Mihajlovic on the touchline since his chemotherapy treatment for leukaemia.

“I dedicate this goal to my girlfriend and son, but also to Mihajlovic, as he is a great man and we finally managed to give him a small moment of joy.

“With every goal I missed, I kept thinking that would’ve been a chance to make Sinisa happy. He deserves everything. We couldn’t wait to give him that victory, so we were quite sad after the draw at Verona, because we wanted to give him that boost during this battle.

“We couldn’t wait to get out there this evening and finally got the victory for him.”
