Roma Coach Paulo Fonseca can “already see signs of what we want to do as a team” after the 12-0 victory over Pro Calcio Tor Sapienza.

The Giallorossi’s first friendly outing of the summer saw the 4-2-3-1 formation used with attack-minded full-backs, Davide Santon in central defence and goalkeeper Pau Lopez acting as a sweeper-keeper.

Diego Perotti converted a penalty before Schick scored with a delightful back-heel flick on Rick Karsdorp’s assist.

Leonardo Spinazzola, Spinozzi and Schick again rounded out the scoreline.

The entire XI changed for the second half, with Alessandro Florenzi given yet another new role, on the left side of the supporting strident behind Edin Dzeko.

Florenzi seemed to enjoy it and bagged a brace, while Cengiz Under and Dzeko were also on target.

Mirko Antonucci took centre-stage with a late hat-trick for the 20-year-old, in the position Javier Pastore adopted in the first half.

“It was important to transfer those ideas we’ve been working on to the pitch, so we saw some ideas and collective intentions that were satisfying, but there is a lot of work to do,” Fonseca told Roma TV.

“The players have worked well and it’s evident there’s a lot to improve on, but this is a complex style of football and we can already see signs of what we want to do as a team.”
