Lorenzo Insigne has made it clear that Maurizio Sarri will ‘betray’ Napoli if he becomes Juventus Coach.

Insigne worked under Sarri at Napoli between 2015 and 2018, achieving two runners-up finishes in Serie A, but the Chelsea boss appears set for Juve.

“It’s speculation that gives me displeasure,” he said at a Press conference.

“He did so much for us players and all the Neapolitan people. He’s also a professional, but him choosing Juve would hurt: it’ll be a betrayal for us Neapolitans once it becomes official.”

The forward was then asked about the impact of Arkadiusz Milik’s miss in the Champions League against eventual winners Liverpool.

“We knew that our group was a complicated one, but we did everything to get out of it,” he continued.

“It’s a shame about the save on Milik, but talking about it doesn’t change anything. Liverpool are a great team and deserved to win the Champions League.”

The 28-year-old was speaking from Italy’s training retreat at Coverciano ahead of Euro 2020 qualifiers with Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“We’re building a great group, we’ll do everything we can to qualify. We’re Italy, we deserve to take part at the European Championship.”

Finally, would Insigne prefer being happy at the San Paolo or winning trophies?

“There’s so much pressure on me. Everyone expects a lot from me, but I’ve put the negativity behind me.

“I’d like to give triple. I’m proud to stay at Napoli and as long as I do well here, I won’t miss winning trophies.”
