Fiorentina fans announced the suspension of protests, in a bid to get behind the team in their relegation clash with Genoa.

La Viola hosts the Grifone on Sunday for their final day of the season showdown, knowing that a defeat could see them drop down to Serie B next season, if Empoli also beat Inter.

The Tuscans have failed to win any of their last 15 matches between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, and their fans have run out of patience with the Della Valle Family, calling for them to sell the club.

They have been sitting in silence for the entire first half or even boycotting games entirely as part of their campaign against the club owners.

However, realising the seriousness of the situation after a 1-0 defeat to Parma, Fiorentina ultras took action.

“We invite all fans to come to the stadium on Sunday, May 26 for the game against Genoa,” read the statement from L’Associazione Centro Coordinamento Viola Club.

“It is time to suspend the protests and give our full support to Fiorentina. Banners will once again be hung in the Stadio Artemio Franchi and we hope every section will be full.

“The fans have never failed to support the team, even in the most difficult of situations. We appeal to the players, the shirt you wear is our passion, it must be honoured, and you must fight to the end to ensure we stay up.

“Although, straight after the final whistle there will be many things that we want to address and clarify, we want them dealt with there and then and not at another time. Forza Fiorentina!”
