“We are in the quarter-finals and you can feel that extra pressure in the atmosphere,” the Vice-President told Sky Sport Italia.

Mattia De Sciglio was an unexpected choice at right-back rather than Joao Cancelo, while Douglas Costa is in the stands.

“I read that we used 30 different line-ups this season. The Coach has always brought results home, so he certainly thought about having options off the bench. Cancelo can bring a change of pace and move up the tempo, so I think that’s why he made that decision.”

In attack, Mario Mandzukic is out of action, so Dybala is the centre-forward rather than Moise Kean.

“We gave Dybala the Number 10 at Juventus and we always expect something more from the Number 10 here. Dybala has been the captain in the past too,” continued Nedved.

“We confirm he is a very important player for us and we have faith in him. A player cannot ask for anything more than that.”

The first leg ended 1-1 in Amsterdam and Nedved had a stark warning for the Juventus players and Coach.

“I expect something a little different from us, as what we did in Amsterdam would not be enough. We need to be a bit more attacking, albeit careful at the back because Ajax are so dangerous going forward, but if we are not more attacking, we won’t get through to the next round.

“Ajax really impressed me with how calm they were, especially Frenkie de Jong, who reminds me of Andrea Pirlo. They play together, always move the ball around and that’s difficult to defend against. We must be careful not to give away any penalties.”
