Federico Chiesa hit the woodwork, but the relegation strugglers wasted several chances before Daniel Ciofani’s late winner at the Stadio Franchi.

“It was difficult to predict a game like this, as our recent performances had been more convincing in every way,” the Coach told DAZN.

“We didn’t start badly today, but were lacking tempo and quality. It becomes difficult to win when playing at that speed. We haven’t won at home for over a month in Serie A and a victory today would’ve allowed us to climb the table.

“I don’t think it was an issue of motivation, it simply wasn’t our day, everything went wrong and so the result was negative.”

There was tension at the final whistle, with jeers for the team and loud chants from the ultras urging the Della Valle brothers to sell the club.

“The fans have always supported us, but considering our performance today, it was difficult to expect any other attitude than the one they had. We just weren’t ourselves and are aware of that. We’ve got to prove from the next game that this is not us.”
