Walter Mazzarri has urged Torino not to stop now as his top-six challengers face an out-of-sorts Parma in Serie A on Saturday.

Torino’s 2-1 win against Sampdoria midweek left them only four points off the Champions League places, and Mazzarri is demanding consistency from his side ahead of the run-in.

“Parma have done very well so far and we also remember them well because they put us in a lot of trouble earlier in the season,” the Coach told Torino Channel.

“We must be careful because, no matter how quiet they are now, they’ll surely want to do well and we’ve already been given a lesson by them.

“Still, let’s not talk about this being a final exam. It’s a term that’s been a bit overused lately.

“We must be more consistent with our performances, although I must say that we’ve done well in this second half of the season. Now we must move forward in this direction.

“De Silvestri has recovered, but I’ll evaluate him tomorrow morning. I can’t say much about training, not for pre-tactics but because we have so many absences, which I can only address tomorrow.

“We must only focus on ourselves in the race [for Europe]. I don’t like to flaunt or talk about objectives because it’d be useless if we lost to Parma.

“It makes no sense to talk. The facts must speak for themselves because results lead you to an important place in the table.

“I'm happy with our second half of the season, but I don’t want it to stop now.”

Mazzarri then poured praise on captain Andrea Belotti, who has five goals in his last five games.

“He’s a great kid!” he added.

“He’s also worked on the technical side of his game under me, putting in the determination of a little boy.

“I’ve never seen him look so well and he’s surprised me. The only advice I want to give him is not to get carried away because he’s a phenomenal player.”
