Cagliari captain Luca Ceppitelli believes his side’s recent results have showed their mentality has ‘changed’ after scoring the winner against Fiorentina.

Ceppitelli’s header to put Cagliari 2-0 up on Friday night proved crucial as it cancelled out a late Federico Chiesa consolation, and the defender was delighted to help the Sardinians secure their third victory in five games.

“We don’t want to make calculations yet, like we always say, but we knew how important it was to win and show consistency here at home,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a very important victory. My goal? I said I wanted to score one of my own and I succeeded in doing so.

“We’ve changed our mentality, continuing to work with the same intensity, despite the difficulties we’ve faced, and I think our results show that.

“Astori on my armband? Davide is always with us and we did the same thing a little while ago.

“It seems incredible, but remembering him always gives us a hand and helps us. He’s a pleasant memory for us.”
