Mauro Icardi’s agent-wife Wanda Nara claims Inter are not ‘protecting’ the striker enough as ‘sometimes nasty things have come out from inside’.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Monday morning that Inter were not happy with Luciano Spalletti’s demand for the club to ‘sit down and talk about’ about the issue of Icardi’s contract, and Wanda had her say on the situation.
“Spalletti didn’t have it in for me,” she told Tiki Taka.
“I didn’t mention the renewal. When the club called me, it was to get to know each other better and talk about other things.
“I’d like to see Mauro more protected by the club because sometimes nasty things have come out from inside.
“The priority is Inter: I’ve never demanded a renewal. We’re in no hurry, he still has two years left on his contract.”
Wanda was then asked about her husband’s recent goal drought, which was extended to seven Serie A games at the weekend.
“There’s nothing to say about that,” she maintained.
“Mauro has always scored goals and Lautaro scored [against Parma] thanks to some great movement by Mauro, who’s been given little service.
“Maybe Spalletti could play them together, taking advantage of the fact that he and Mauro are friends. There’s no rivalry between them.”
