Benevento Coach Cristian Bucchi wants to relish “an historic occasion” in their first ever Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie against Inter.

It kicks off at San Siro on Sunday at 17.00 GMT, the winners go on to face Lazio in the quarter-final.

“This is an historic occasion for Benevento, one we earned and deserved, so I told the lads to relish every moment,” said the Coach of this Serie B side.

It is the first time Le Streghe have ever reached the last 16 of the Coppa Italia, although playing at San Siro is slightly ruined by the fact it’ll be behind closed doors due to racist chanting from Inter ultras.

“It is disappointing that our fans won’t be able to participate, especially as it is through no fault of their own. Racism has to be fought, but not when punishing innocent bystanders.

“It would’ve been better to play the game in Benevento and not allow Inter supporters to make the trip.

“It’s not true that we have nothing to lose, because we can take an important opportunity to do well for ourselves, for the club and for the fans.

“We need to put in a strong team performance in order to cause Inter problems. The Nerazzurri are a very strong squad with a champion in every role.”

Benevento squad for Inter: Montipò, Gori, Zagari; Di Chiara, 11 Maggio, Gyamfi, Letizia, Antei, Costa, Tuia, Billong, Sparandeo; Cuccurullo, Sanogo, Bandinelli, Del Pinto, Tello; Coda, Improta, Insigne, Buonaiuto, Ricci, Armenteros
