“Yes, Milan had also been after me but I’d already given my word and I didn’t retrace my steps,” said the striker at his official unveiling on Friday.

“I kept thinking Fiorentina were the right place for me. I worked hard to come here and I’m happy I did.

“The best Muriel? I think you saw it in Udine and Samp, when I played with guys like Di Natale and Quagliarella. They helped me to make a lot.

“I’m at an important point of my career. I come here with high hopes and after so many experiences.

“I’m fit and I think everyone’s noticed it. It’s been said about me that I lose my shape when things aren’t going well, but I’ve shown that I’m in the right condition, both in training and friendlies.

“Me instead of Simeone or with him? Both are excellent solutions because I can play anywhere along the front line.

“Comparisons with Ronaldo? It’s always been a stimulus and it means that I’ve done good things.

“Cuadrado? I talked to him and he played a key role in me coming here.”
