Mayor Virginia Raggi has hit out at Eintracht Frankfurt fans for ‘devastating’ Rome and called for an end to hooliganism in the capital.

Raggi’s remarks come after Frankfurt fans clashed with police in Piazzale Flaminio before Lazio’s 2-1 defeat to the German side in the Europa League on Thursday.

“Rome has been targeted by German hooligans in the last two days,” Raggi told La7.

“Rome has been targeted by German hooligans in the last two days,” Raggi told La7.

“German fans have looted various areas of the city and I’ve also received news of cars being smashed and a supermarket devastated.

“I’m in favour of football and sport. Rome respects fans but doesn’t want hooligans anymore. Enough is enough.”
