Alex Meret enjoyed finally making his debut for Napoli, sharing the enthusiasm with teammates Amin Younes and Faouzi Ghoulam.

The former Udinese and SPAL goalkeeper broke a bone in his arm during his second training session with the Partenopei back in August and had to wait until today for his first appearance in the 4-0 victory over Frosinone.

“Let’s just say it went as I had hoped, we got the game on the right track straight away,” Meret told Sky Sport Italia.

“The squad rotation proved that we have so many valid options ready to do well. It was a wonderful day for me and I’m happy the fans gave me such a warm welcome. I will always give my best for Napoli.”

Meret wasn’t the only debutant, as Younes came of the bench too, while Ghoulam made his comeback 403 days after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

“I’m happy for Ghoulam, as he provided two assists and had a great performance. Younes also did well when he came on. We were all off the field for such a long time and are happy to be back.”

David Ospina should be back in goal for Wednesday’s Champions League decider against Liverpool.

“We reach this game with the utmost confidence and desire to do well. We go there without fear and hope to bring home a positive result.”
