Lorenzo Insigne’s second-half penalty earned Napoli a 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday, and Koulibaly suggested the Partenopei were benefitting from the Ancelotti effect.
“I’m always trying to improve,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia.
“It’s difficult to play in these games because you’re facing some top players. Today went more or less well.
“We’re disappointed abou the goal we conceded. We must improve and we know that there is still work to do.
“It’s always difficult to play against Liverpool or PSG, so we have to stay focused until the final whistle.
“It’s too bad that we conceded in first-half stoppages. We had to be more focused, but it’s still a good draw against a team full of players who can win the Ballon d’Or.
“PSG are a good team, who want to win the Champions League. Even though we were trailing, we held up well.
“Then in the second half we came out with less fear and more courage. We could’ve scored two or three in the first 15 minutes.
“We’re happy with the draw. We could’ve scored a second goal, but PSG are very good and we did well.
“I’ve grown in tandem with the team. Now we approach these games with less fear. I hope to do even better going forward.
“I like one-on-ones. I’m a defender who likes duels, but now I have to use my head a bit more because sometimes I go a bit too far forward.
“I think the Coach gets a little angry when he sees me coming out with the ball! As a man, aside from being a great Coach, Ancelotti’s a good person. He’s humble.
“We had Primavera players in training and he greeted them before we started. For me, that was an incredible surprise.
“When I see this, I think there are still some good people in the world. I hope that when I’m older, I’ll be as wise as him.”
