“We’ve got to start finishing off more of our goal-scoring opportunities, especially away from home,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We have to act as if that is the only chance we’re going to get to score in the whole game. We must also be wary at the back on set plays, as we know how dangerous Cagliari can be in these situations.”

Today is Pioli’s birthday and he revealed the squad had marked the occasion.

“The team started preparations for this game on the right foot, as they gave me several bottles of red Tuscan wine. Of course, they know full well what present I want to receive tomorrow. I hope to share that gift with the Fiorentina fans.”

Cagliari and Fiorentina are the clubs where Davide Astori spent most of his career, so they will celebrate him together tomorrow and present his parents with a commemorative symbol.

“As we’ve said before, Davide is always with us. What happened improved me as a Coach and the whole team as people. The lads continue every day to show me just how much they shoulder responsibility and human values.

“Davide was the first to believe in our work here and we want to continue it. I am truly happy to be in charge of this Fiorentina side. I expect to see Fiorentina play with hunger and determination to win, from start to finish.

“The important thing to remember is that none of these players, including Cristiano Biraghi, Federico Chiesa and Marko Pjaca, have reached their potential yet. Quality is not enough, they must give their heart and soul on the field.”
