It is seemingly all or nothing for the Aquile, who followed a run of five consecutive victories in all competition with back-to-back defeats against Roma and Eintracht Frankfurt.

“The two losses were very different,” insisted the Coach in his Press conference.

“We’ve talked about the derby enough, but in Frankfurt the game was decided by two red cards and some individual errors that should not be repeated. These defeats were not planned and we’ve got to get the win by any means necessary.

“Clearly, the mood in the locker room is not a happy one, as we lost a derby that was very important for us and our fans. We are also aware that we had a very strong run before that and are still only three points off second place in Serie A, while we’re second in the Europa League group. It is all still in our hands and we know that we must react.”

Among the biggest issues Inzaghi has to deal with is defending from set plays, where they conceded four from such situations in two games.

“We have to avoid these situations and rediscover our defensive solidity. People’s opinions of you change quickly in football, we know that, but we had five wins in a row before the derby. Now we take on a Fiorentina side in great shape.

“The same goes for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, as people went from praising him to criticism. What we need is an analysis of what went wrong, not just find someone to blame.”

Inzaghi confirmed Felipe Caicedo had flu over the last few days and needs to be evaluated.

“Fiorentina will do everything to make life difficult for us and we have to give more. I listen to constructive criticism, the rest is just there to create chaos. My team knows what it has to do.

“It’s true we had a few dips in concentration during crunch matches, so it’s my job to work out how to limit that weakness. It would certainly help to end games with 11 men against 11.”

The Coach was asked if Lazio could change their system during this difficult spell.

“The team needs certainties, things it can rely on, and right now the lads see themselves in this system. We could later play with Milan Badelj and Lucas Leiva together, bringing Luis Alberto back and pushing Milinkovic-Savic further up.”
