Crotone’s request for the FIGC to rule on allegations of false accounting against Chievo before September has been denied.

The Flying Donkeys have been charged with inflating the value of their players and assets, allowing them to pass the financial checks necessary to register for Serie A.

A hearing took place regarding the same issue last month, but the charge had to be resubmitted due to a technical error.

At the time, the prosecutor asked for Chievo to be punished with a 15 point deduction from their total last season – which would have seen them relegated to Serie B instead of Crotone.

However, the delay caused by the technical error means the hearing is not scheduled to take place until 12 September – almost four weeks after the new season starts.

And Crotone have seen their request for the hearing to be brought forward rejected, due to the traditional Ferragosto holiday period in Italy around late August.

As such, Chievo are all but certain to stay in Serie A and can look forward to an opening day fixture against Juventus, which will see Cristiano Ronaldo make his Bianconeri debut.

Last month’s hearing saw now-bankrupt Cesena – the club with which Chievo allegedly collaborated to inflate transfer fees – punished with a 15 point deduction in whichever League they start next season.
