Crotone have confirmed they’ll “proceed immediately” with a new trial after Chievo’s Serie A status was confirmed.

The Flying Donkeys were under investigation for alleged false accounting in a number of deals with Cesena.

Today though the FIGC ruled it could not proceed with the case, so the Veronese club stay in Serie A with no points deduction.

Had they been deducted six points for last season as requested by the prosecutor, Crotone would have been in the top flight instead.

“We’re proceeding immediately with the new trial against Chievo, to ensure FC Crotone does not suffer further serious damage,” Giancarlo Pittelli and Elio Manica, the Squali’s lawyers, said in a statement seen by ANSA.

“The court did not absolve Chievo, but merely sent the documents back to the prosecutor’s office to redo the whole procedure in the correct manner.”
