Italy CT Roberto Mancini believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s willingness to ‘reopen himself to criticism’ via his move to Juventus should be ‘appreciated’.

Ronaldo’s transfer to Juve from Real Madrid comes despite him turning 33 earlier in the year, and Mancini feels the Portuguese must be commended for his bravery.

“Di Biagio my successor in the national team? We haven’t even started yet,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Di Biagio my successor in the national team? We haven’t even started yet,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“He can be ready at any time. All that’s being thought about now is that the lads are starting their preparations [for the new season].

“I hope they do well and that all the players in the national team are able to play a lot.

“Ronaldo? In the past, there were many champions in Serie A, all of them the best.

“The thing to appreciate about Ronaldo is that he’s reopened himself to criticism. That’s important for a great champion like him.”
