Massimo Moratti has played down the rivalry between Inter and Juventus ahead of Saturday’s clash as a Nerazzurri win ‘only matters’ for the Champions League.

Victory for Inter, coupled with a Napoli win at Fiorentina, would see the Partenopei topple Juve with only three games remaining, but Moratti made it clear the Beneamata were only thinking about a top-four finish in Serie A.

“Inter seem okay to me, even if the results haven’t always arrived,” the club’s former President told Corriere dello Sport.

“If Inter beat Juventus, reaching the top four certainly becomes easier. Beating Inter to ruin their title chances? Victory matters for Inter and their position in the table. That’s the only important thing for us.

“Juventus remain a great team, even if they’re only one point ahead of Napoli. They must be confronted well and without any distractions.

“Scudetto? Napoli’s win in Turin has reopened the title race. Now the end of the season will be even more fun.

“I have faith in Spalletti, who’s a good Coach, and I hope he shows it again. After that, I’m convinced the players know how precious the objective is for the club and the match is for the fans.”
