Luciano Spalletti praised Rafinha for keeping a cool head and helping Inter secure the victory away to Chievo. “He holds the ball up.”

The Nerazzurri were perhaps fortunate to take all three points from the Bentegodi, as Samir Handanovic made numerous saves and Nenad Tomovic turned inches wide with the last kick of the game.

“We let go a bit towards the end and allowed Chievo back into it,” confessed the Coach on Mediaset Premium.

“We let go a bit towards the end and allowed Chievo back into it,” confessed the Coach on Mediaset Premium.

“We have some very talented forwards, like Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic, but it’s the complete package of the team that makes the difference.

“Rafinha had an excellent game, he holds the ball up and takes the pressure off. Today he was very solid defensively too. At times we relax into situations, but he instead is very good at inviting everyone forward.”

There is still only one point separating Inter from Roma and Lazio in third, and the final round of the season is a potentially decisive Lazio-Inter.

“I don’t know if it’ll be the key, but there are many very important games before that. This team has realised it’s in the running right to the end.

“We’ve only started working together this year and yet can reach the top four. Along the way, we’ll get to know each other better and improve. I think talking about the transfer market now is premature and even ungrateful towards the players.”
