“Tomorrow we’ll go out there and win the game,” insisted the Coach after a club record 10 consecutive defeats.

They had twice been leading away to Scudetto-chasing Napoli on Wednesday evening, only to eventually capitulate 4-2.

“We had done well at the San Paolo, I tried to give the team courage and they had nothing to lose there. The situation is different tomorrow, but I still ask for courage.

“We want to end this negative streak and get closer to our objective. The lads are concentrated, eager, hungry and trained well. We want to prove that what we showed against Napoli is something we can do tomorrow and in the remaining matches.

“I have no doubts on the line-up I’ll have tomorrow. I know perfectly well who I will start. I still have to evaluate Jens Stryger-Larsen, Valon Behrami and Kevin Lasagna, because we also have to think about the heat. If they are in good shape, then they will start, otherwise I have players who are ready.

“We know that this is a crossroads for our season and we really want to find the right path out of this difficult moment. It’ll be the game of a lifetime for everyone involved, and we are well aware that an incident could change everything. We want to win, that is the objective.

“The fans are unhappy, as is only normal after 10 consecutive defeats, but the lads want to give a gift to themselves as well as the supporters. Our motivation is sky high.

“If we win tomorrow, we are practically safe and we have to make the most of this opportunity.”

Oddo has survived in his position despite the historic run of 10 losses on the bounce and was irritated by questions over his future.

“I have to focus on everything except my position when preparing for this match. I can’t use up valuable energy on a possible sacking, these things happen in football.

“I am convinced my team will put in a great performance and seek the victory. Football is unpredictable, but we’ll go out there to give our all.

“This game will decide our future and we must play with belief.”
