The Giallorossi ended their three-round winless streak, but found it tougher than expected to push past Genoa 2-1 thanks to Cengiz Under and an Ervin Zukanovic own goal.

“It’s not the first time we have started strong with the right attitude, then after taking the lead made a few too many mistakes, especially with naïve errors on the goal,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“Unlike the other times we did that, we ended up bringing home the points anyway.”

Hundreds of fans queued up all night to buy tickets for the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool, so is this euphoria putting excessive pressure on Roma?

“Euphoria is better than depression. It’s up to us to absorb it the right way. We need balance, we’re happy with our season and it’s good that the fans are queuing up for tickets. We must do well to keep our minds on the next game.

“If we want to play Liverpool or Barcelona again next season, we need to do well in Serie A and qualify for the Champions League. There are only two remaining places and three teams fighting, so we can’t lose ground on Inter and Lazio.”
