The MLS franchise lost Blerim Dzemaili to their Serie A cousins, but it has now been officially announced that Taider has gone the other way.

“The Montreal Impact announced on Monday the acquisition of French midfielder and Algerian international Saphir Taïder as a Designated Player, following a three year deal, including a two-year loan from Italian club Bologna FC 1909, and an option for 2021,” the Canadian side confirmed on their official website.

“He will join the club upon receiving his international transfer certificate and undergoing his medical.”

The Designated Player rule allows Major League Soccer franchises to sign up to three players whose wages and transfer fees exceed the salary cap.

Dzemaili previously took one of the DP slots.
