Benevento boss Roberto De Zerbi believes they can avoid relegation, “but it doesn’t only depend on us now.”

Le Streghe are in their first ever top flight campaign and managed just four points in the first half of the season.

Things seem to have taken a turn with two consecutive victories and they visit Bologna on Sunday afternoon.

“We have done nothing yet and must continue to take it one game at a time,” De Zerbi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We have done nothing yet and must continue to take it one game at a time,” De Zerbi told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We’re still looking for our first point earned away from home and have got to concentrate on Bologna.

“There is hope, because we can take example from the past. Last season, Davide Nicola’s Crotone seemed to be done for and they came back to secure safety on the final day. Don’t forget Walter Mazzarri’s Reggina, who started their campaign from -11 points and still survived.

“I often tell the lads, it is doable, even if it doesn’t only depend on us now. Last year, Crotone were able to take advantage of Empoli crumbling.”

De Zerbi is now able to count on January signings Achraf Lazaar, Jean-Claude Billong, Cheick Diabate and Sandro.

Benevento squad for Bologna: Belec, Brignoli, Piscitelli; Gyamfi, Di Chiara, Venuti, Letizia, Costa, Djimsiti, Billong; Lazaar, Viola, Del Pinto, Memushaj, Cataldi, Sandro, Djuricic; Guilherme, D'Alessandro, Lombardi, Coda, Puscas, Iemmello, Brignola
