Cagliari have officially signed Leandro Castan on loan from Roma, while sending Marco Capuano to Crotone.

The double deal was completed this afternoon, as centre-back Castan’s arrival effectively made Capuano surplus to requirements.

Castan has never quite recaptured his form after a year out following delicate brain surgery to correct a cavernoma – cluster of irregular blood vessels.

The Brazilian defender is on loan until the end of the season, despite having been heavily linked with Genoa over the last few days.

Meanwhile, Cagliari also sent Capuano out on loan to Serie A strugglers Crotone, but there is an option to buy that will become obligatory if the Calabrese club stays in the top flight.

In other news, Bologna have loaned defender Marios Oikonomou to Serie B outfit Bari until the end of the season.

Oikonomou had spent the last six months on loan with SPAL.
