Luciano Spalletti claims Geoffrey Kondogbia did not consult Inter first about wanting to leave the club and confirms Jeison Murillo is set to join Valencia.
Kondogbia did not report for training for Inter on Friday morning, prompting him to be excluded from their squad for Saturday’s friendly against Real Betis, and Spalletti was frustrated that the Nerazzurri were not informed first about the midfielder’s desire to change teams.
“Surprised or bitter about Kondogbia? He had this idea to change [teams], it came out of the blue and I tried to convince him [to stay], but someone else probably made him certain promises,” the Coach told reporters.
“Still, [what was said] has to be shared, they have to let us know too. We didn’t pay two lire for him…
“If there’s a team that wants him then, well, let’s talk. If he doesn’t want to leave then, of course, we’d like to keep him.”
On the topic of Murillo, Spalletti added: “Murillo wants to leave, we talked when I arrived, but there was this idea, the club had a deal with the directors and found an agreement, so I think [he’ll leave].
“Kondogbia? I’ve already talked to him, I’m a bit surprised, I made a couple of little promises to him, and for me he’s important and strong.
“I’ll need a number of midfielders to tackle a League campaign. I expect more great application, professionalism and another good performance from the players.
“Dalbert? Maybe he’ll start this game. We’ll evaluate his condition, he’s also travelled.
“There was a storm today and it wasn’t not possible to train, but he’ll be involved.
“The transfer market? Not at this time, we want to understand what’s happened with [Kondogbia] first.”
