Italy lifted the European Championships trophy at Wembley on July 11 with a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw with England. Luke Shaw put Gareth Southgate’s side in front after two minutes but Leonardo Bonucci equalised just past the hour mark and the teams could not be separated in normal time. Extra time proved goalless, and so the tie was settled from 12 yards.
Domenico Berardi, Bonucci and Federico Bernadeschi all converted for Italy, but Andrea Belotti and Jorginho did not. Harry Kane and Harry Maguire were on target for England but misses by Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka meant the trophy went to Roberto Mancini’s side as Italy won 3-2 in the shootout. It was Italy’s second European Championships success after victory as hosts in 1968.
Details from a number of games from Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph can be printed on the shirt, including the semi-final shootout win over Spain, in which Gianluigi Donnarumma saved from Alvaro Morata before Jorginho netted the winning penalty, and the quarter-final victory against FIFA World No 1 team Belgium. Goals that day from Nicolo Barella and Lorenzo Insigne helped Italy on the path to the successful final.
