Roma are considering Inter’s Joao Miranda as a January reinforcement, reports suggest, but his salary is holding things up.

The Brazilian has lost his place in Luciano Spalletti’s side after the arrival of Stefan de Vrij, and he has admitted that he wants to play more.

That has raised the possibility of a transfer this month, but the Nerazzurri are keen to hang on to him until at least the end of the season.

That has raised the possibility of a transfer this month, but the Nerazzurri are keen to hang on to him until at least the end of the season.

According to Il Messaggero, Giallorossi sporting director Monchi is a big fan of Miranda, and sees him as a potential replacement for Ivan Marcano.

However, the 34-year-old earns a salary of €3m per season and the capital club don’t want to spend that on a veteran player.

Miranda may have to lower his salary anyway though, as his other option is a return to Brazil, likely with Flamengo, who wouldn’t pay that kind of money either.
