Gregoire Defrel confirms “I had other offers” to leave Sassuolo “but in my heart and my head there was only Roma”.
The French forward was linked with a move to the Giallorossi in January, but completed a transfer last month on a €5m loan with €15m obligation to buy.
“My agent told me about Roma’s interest and I wanted to come in January,” Defrel confirmed in his presentation Press conference.

“My agent told me about Roma’s interest and I wanted to come in January,” Defrel confirmed in his presentation Press conference.
“Then I decided to stay at Sassuolo, hoping I could come here in the summer. I had other offers, but in my heart and my head there was only Roma.
“It will be different to Sassuolo, but I like that. Roma have a very important stadium and a beautiful fanbase.
“Roma-Inter for my debut? I’ll be ready…
“Do we have to aim for the Scudetto? Of course, Roma is a great team. I’m vying with [Edin] Dzeko in attack, and if another player comes in that will be important.
“What can I learn from Dzeko? A lot, because he’s a really good striker who has scored so many goals.
“I always watch him in training, and he never makes a mistake in front of goal.”
Defrel will reunite with former Sassuolo Coach Eusebio Di Francesco in Rome.
“He was very important [in my coming here] because he’s taught me so much. He changed my role, he turned me into a striker.
“In those two years at Sassuolo I improved so much.”
