Cesare Prandelli says Fiorentina do not feel abandoned by President Andrea Delle Valle after he handed in his resignation at a board meeting yesterday.
Della Valle felt he could no longer devote as much time to the day-to-day running of the club as he needs to reorganise the family business.
In the meantime, Mario Cognini has replaced him.
Prandelli has always been very attached to Della Valle and often cites him as the reason he decided to join the club.
We know that we have not been abandoned. There is an owner. He will play his games and we shall play ours, Prandelli said.
We shall focus on demonstrating that there is a project at Fiorentina and that it will go forward.
I know that tomorrow is his birthday and I would like to give him the warmest of wishes.
Looking beyond what happened yesterday, Della Valle remains a point of reference. He is a person of great sensibility who established a deep relationship with the team.
The players know he has not left them alone and this is the message that Andrea Della Valle has given to me and the players, Prandelli revealed.
It remains to be seen how much of an impact the decision will have on the team.
Fiorentina are back in action tomorrow evening when they travel to local rivals Livorno.
