Serie A Week 9 - 25/10/09 (14.00 UK)
Siena 0 - 1 Juventus
Amauri 72 (J)
Stadio Franchi

Amauri's header squeezed Juve's first Serie A victory in a month, but it was far from impressive.

The pressure was on these Coaches, as Ciro Ferrara's four-match winless streak wasn't entirely swept away by a 1-0 midweek victory over 10-man Maccabi Haifa, while the Tuscans were in penultimate place. Alessandro Del Piero, Hasan Salihamidzic, Jonathan Zebina, Tiago Mendes and Claudio Marchisio missed out, as did the suspended Michele Fini and Abdel Ghezzal. Marco Giampaolo sat out a touchline ban.

This fixture has special meaning for Ferrara, as he made his debut with a 3-0 win here on May 24. That was Juve's fourth win in five visits, losing the other 1-0 in 2007-08.

Paolo De Ceglie, Cristian Molinaro and Albin Ekdal were facing their former clubs. David Trezeguet's first-time strike was charged down in the box and Christian Poulsen pulled back for Diego, who horribly ballooned over.

Gianluca Curci pushed Trezeguet's angled drive round the near post, but it didn't matter as he had been flagged offside anyway.

Giorgio Chiellini nodded a free kick inches off target as it looped over the top corner.

However, in first half stoppages Gigi Buffon needed a stunning save to keep it on level terms, as he used every inch of his height to prevent an Ekdal lob from flying over him into the net from point-blank range.

Straight after the restart Amauri's header from a corner turned into an assist for Chiellini to hit the post, but the defender was offside.

Jajalo went on a solo run and his shot was deflected off Molinaro's back. Juve were still chaotic and it was exemplified when Nicola Legrottaglie and Martin Caceres clattered into each other.

Siena went on the counter and only a last-ditch Chiellini tackle prevented Emanuele Calaio' going clear on goal from Ekdal's through ball.

Juventus broke the deadlock when Diego's free kick found Amauri between two defenders in the six-yard box, nodding it past Curci at the near post. The Brazilian hadn't scored for eight months, but now had his second in as many games.
