Liverpool could offer Sebastian Coates to Sampdoria for Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
Romero has returned to Samp after a loan spell at AS Monaco, but despite his impressive performances in the World Cup this summer, he is still not wanted by Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
Liverpool have shown a firm interest in taking Romero off their hands, but there’s a new twist in the story.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Coates could be used in a straight swap deal to swing the move their way.
A Uruguay international, 23-year-old Coates fits the profile of the centre-back Sampdoria have been looking for.
He just returned from a six-month loan with Nacional.
Other options for Sampdoria’s defender include Lisandro Lopez of Benfica.
