It has been confirmed that Napoli’s Marek Hamsik has suffered an ankle injury and will miss this weekend’s match with Verona.
The Slovakian picked up the injury during the Azzurri’s 5-2 victory over Sampdoria yesterday, following a challenge by defender Shkodran Mustafi.
“Marek Hamsik is out,” respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed. “After sustaining an injury yesterday against Samp, the Slovakian underwent testing.
“It has produced a negative result – he has suffered a first degree sprain to his left ankle.
“Hamsik will definitely miss the final League match against Verona and he is a big doubt for Slovakia’s two pre-World Cup friendlies against Montenegro and Russia.”
