President Maurizio Zamparini and Coach Beppe Iachini celebrated Palermo’s promotion back into Serie A. “I kept my promise.”
The Rosanero needed only one point from today’s trip to Novara, but secured a 1-0 result for their sixth consecutive victory.
“I am truly happy to have kept my promise and brought Palermo straight back into Serie A,” President Zamparini told Mediaset a year after their relegation.
“Now we build on this group and its excellent Coach to bring a highly competitive team into Serie A. I am happy for Palermo and its people.”
The Sicilians had a poor start to the campaign under Gennaro Gattuso, but were transformed when Iachini took over.
They are now unbeaten in 18 rounds and just eight points shy of the club record.
“It is always pleasing to see such joy, as we do this job to make people happy,” Iachini told Sky Sport Italia.
“This celebration rewards the lads who worked so hard to bring a positive and attacking mentality on to the field.
“I am happy for the city, the President and everyone who works behind the scenes. It’s a victory I personally want to dedicate to my family.
“Now for Serie A. It will be a wonderful adventure.”
