Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Montella is “worried” about Giuseppe Rossi’s knee injury and blasted Livorno defender Leandro Rinaudo.
The Viola beat Livorno 1-0 with a goal from Gonzalo Rodriguez, but Capocannoniere Rossi hobbled off. It’s a suspected sprain with the potential for ligament damage, a frightening situation for a striker who spent two years on the sidelines.
“We are all worried about Rossi. Tomorrow there will be the necessary medical tests,” Montella told Sky Sport Italia.
“We are above all sad for his state of mind. It’s a real shame, as the foul seemed to be intentional and the player behind it didn’t even apologise. Usually when someone commits a foul like that you say sorry, as there was no way Rinaudo was going to get that ball.”
Meanwhile, Josip Ilicic was again disappointing and Fiorentina ran quite a few risks to get this 1-0 result.
“There wasn’t much space, as Livorno played the entire game with nine men behind the ball. When we figured out how to approach them, we won with a mature attitude.
“I’m not thinking about the table right now. It’s a good position to be in, but we want to do better.”
