Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez will return to Germany on Monday ahead of a medical check-up on his fitness.
The summer signing from Bayern Munich has been sidelined since damaging the collateral ligament in his right knee against Cagliari in September.
The centre-forward is close to a comeback and will see Professor Muller Wohlfahrt for tests on Tuesday.
If all goes well then the player could make his return in the game against Verona when Serie A resumes at the weekend.
Gomez has scored two in three Serie A games for the Viola.
