Gigi De Canio is confident he can collect results with Catania after he replaced Rolando Maran this week.
The Sicilian outfit have opted for a change of tactician after netting just five points from their opening eight League games.
“Catania is a place where a Coach can work well and receive important gratification,” De Canio stated on Tuesday.
“When I was offered the job those two factors were the motivation behind my decision.
“I am convinced that Catania can do more, we can achieve the results which are in line with our possibilities.
“I don’t have to prove how good I am, I just have to get the best out of my players.”
The former Genoa, Udinese and Lecce tactician will make his debut on the Elefanti bench against Sassuolo at the weekend.
“I thank Maran and his staff,” added Catania chief Antonino Pulvirenti. “But this is football and if results don’t arrive then you have to make painful decisions.
“But these choices are made with the intention of improving the situation.”
