Bogdan Lobont has revealed the reason why he rejected the opportunity to leave Roma for Chievo last month.
The Flying Donkeys were on the look-out for a new goalkeeper given that they eventually sold Stefano Sorrentino to Palermo.
“Things were not going well for Roma, it was a delicate time and I decided to decline the offer,” the Romanian told Roma Channel.
“I didn’t want to leave the ship in such difficult moments.
“I’ve got to know a lot of people here at Roma who helped me during some really hard spells during my career.”
Lobont, now 35, has yet to play for the capital club this season given that previous boss Zdenek Zeman used Marten Stekelenburg and then Mauro Goicoechea in goal.
Chievo eventually opted to net Samir Ujkani from Palermo.
