Giancarlo Antognoni has likened Stephan El Shaarawy to former Milan forward Daniele Massaro.
El Shaarawy, who is still just 20, is Serie A’s top scorer this season thanks to his 10 goals in 13 League games.
“He’s surprised me with how regularly he is scoring goals,” the Fiorentina legend stated. “The way Milan play helps him, but I didn’t expect him to be so prolific.
“He’s a centre-forward who plays everywhere, a player who reminds me of Massaro,” the 1982 World Cup winner added.
“I considered Massaro to be a very technical player, a modern striker who was blessed with pace.”
Massaro was a teammate of Antognoni’s during their time together at Fiorentina in the 1980s.
