Cesare Prandelli sees Fiorentina as the main title challengers to Juventus, but warns the Antonio Conte-Antonio Cassano spat shows the “stress” of Serie A.
The Italy Coach spoke to Italian television on the Scudetto race and made a bold claim about his old club.
“The team that will fight with Juventus for the title is Fiorentina. I believe they can battle for the Scudetto right to the end.
“Other than the Viola, there are also Napoli and Inter. Milan are a squad built to win, even if they are very far behind in the table.
“Considering his ideas, I’d say Vincenzo Montella is the best Italian Coach around right now. In a short space of time he has assembled a side with a clear identity and mission statement.”
Prandelli was also asked about the recent public row between Juventus Coach Conte and Inter striker Cassano.
“These things come out with the stress of Serie A. Our League is also very difficult because of these reasons. We realise it on international duty when there are midweek friendlies, which thankfully next year will no longer exist...”
Daniele De Rossi was dropped from Italy’s 2-1 friendly defeat to France on Wednesday after his red card for violent conduct in the Rome derby, which violated the Nazionale’s code of ethics.
“It’s best to leave it for a few days, just as we did a year and a half ago. There will be time for us to have a nice chat. There is a strong rapport with Daniele.”
