Antonio Candreva is convinced that Italy’s attacking trident can deliver results in tonight’s friendly against France.
The Lazio man will start on the right of the forward line alongside Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli and Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy.
“I feel as if I can play in that role,” stated the man who is more accustomed to being used in midfield. “It’s a natural position for me.
“I’ll just try to do what boss Cesare Prandelli has asked of me.
“We’re a good attacking trio and we can do well because Mario and Stephan have great qualities. I’ll just put myself at the disposal of the team.”
Candreva was initially given a shot with the Azzurri by Marcello Lippi, but his career stalled after numerous loan moves. He’s now impressing again at Lazio.
“This is the happiest moment of my career,” he added. “This really is a magic moment for me. I’m happy, things are going in the right direction and I want to continue like this.
“This is a new beginning for me, not revenge. I have nothing to get off my chest, I’m just delighted that I’m doing well for Lazio and that I am back in the Giro Azzurro.
“This is a point of departure for me, not one of arrival. I’m honoured to be here and I want to remain for as long as possible.”
