Sampdoria are adamant that Coach Ciro Ferrara is safe despite the club’s sixth straight Serie A defeat.
The Marassi outfit fell 2-1 at home to Atalanta which fuelled reports that the former Juventus and Italian Under-21 boss could be axed.
“This negative period doesn’t worry me,” club Vice-President Edoardo Garrone noted. “We want to build a project with Ferrara.
“You shouldn’t even ask me whether he is at risk. I’ve never considered his sacking and I won’t do over the coming months either – not even if things get worse.”
Doria were a revelation at the start of the season after winning their first three games – including 1-0 at Milan on the opening day of the campaign.
They haven’t won since beating Pescara 3-2 in Week 3.
Sampdoria are next in action at struggling Palermo.
