Prandelli has selection headache
Tuesday 20 October, 2009

Fiorentina Coach Cesare Prandelli is unsure whether to take a risk and rest players against Debrecen in the Champions League this evening.

The Viola are second in Group E after a famous victory over Liverpool and Debrecen have yet to record a victory so far in the competition.

Prandelli is thinking about resting Alberto Gilardino even though a great deal of fuss was made overturning the suspension that would have ruled him out for this game.

October has been a difficult month domestically, and with Napoli and Genoa still to play, Prandelli is keen to find time to rest his stars.

However, he is fully aware that his strategy is risky, as Fiorentina’s victory over Liverpool gives them a real chance of qualification.

Therefore every point should be considered precious and wins away to Debrecen will come in very handy when the group stages are decided in December.

If Gilardino is rested, Prandelli will play Stevan Jovetic behind Adrian Mutu or vice versa in a 4-2-3-1.
