Corvino reassured by Jovetic
Tuesday 20 October, 2009

Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo Corvino believes Stevan Jovetic’s passions for all things Viola will keep him at the club a bit longer.

The 19-year-old Montenegro international grabbed the world’s attention earlier this month when he scored both goals in Fiorentina’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League.

He has scored three goals in four games in Europe’s premier club competition and returns to action this evening when the Viola fly to Hungary where they will face Debrecen.

Jovetic has attracted interest from Europe’s biggest clubs, most notably Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

He joined Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in the summer of 2008.

“For me, in a football sense, it was love at first sight with Jovetic, then in a personal sense,” Corvino told Sky’s ‘Transfer Market Special’.

“His mother told me that as a boy he watched videos of Batistuta and so he understood that he could have more of a chance than at Real and Milan who were also looking at him together with me.”

Asked about his future, Corvino replied: “It reassures me when I hear him speak because he is determined to be here. He is very well. He doesn’t have many doubts and I am happy.

“I see him being protected and becoming a standard bearer for this club like so many champions have been in the past,” he concluded.
