Palladino snaps at Cassano talk
Sunday 15 November, 2009

Genoa forward Raffaele Palladino snapped at journalists when asked about Antonio Cassano. “I earned my place for the Azzurri.”

The controversy over calling the Sampdoria star was stirred up again during last night’s 0-0 draw with Holland.

A lone figure staged a pitch invasion in Pescara wearing a shirt that read ‘Cassano in the Nazionale.’

“I don’t care about Cassano,” sniped Palladino when asked about the incident afterwards. “I earned my place for the Azzurri.”

The Genoa man received his first cap since February 6 2008 and was one of the additions to the squad that in the eyes of many ‘robbed’ Cassano of a spot.

There is added spice due to the rivalry between Genoa and Sampdoria, making it a derby as well as a challenge for Italy places.

“I am very critical of myself in general, but I feel satisfied with my performance. Having said that, I know that I can give more.”
