Benfica have joined Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma in the race to sign Torino and Italy starlet Angelo Ogbonna.
The Under-21 international defender, who also received a call-up to the senior squad under Cesare Prandelli, is hot property on the transfer market.
“Manuel Rui Costa called me three weeks ago,” agent Giovanni Branchini told Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
“He had received some good references on Ogbonna, but didn't know I was his agent. We talked about the characteristics of the player, nothing more.
“Many Italian clubs are tracking Ogbonna and there could be developments in the next few days.
“Juventus and Roma? These are concrete options.”
Former Fiorentina and Milan player Rui Costa now works as a director at Benfica.
Ogbonna has also been linked with clubs in the Premier League.
