Lazio are thinking about bringing Bologna striker Marco Di Vaio back to the capital 14 years after he left the club where he started his career.
It's no secret that Edy Reja would like a no nonsense goalscorer who can find the net 15 or 20 times a season for the Biancocelesti.
Lazio have been linked with the likes of Hugo Almeida and Roque Santa Cruz, but La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Di Vaio's name has also been mentioned in discussions between Reja and Lazio President Claudio Lotito.
Bologna's financial problems and the uncertainty surrounding the club mean the 34-year-old could become available in January.
Lotito is also keen to sound out Manchester United about the prospect of taking Italy Under-21 international Federico Macheda on loan until the end of the season.
